About Juvenile Myleomonocytic Leukemia J.M.M.L. is a rare childhood cancer that occurs most often in infants and children under four years of age. The cause of J.M.M.L. is unknown. In J.M.M.L., the bone marrow makes too many white blood cells. The white blood cells are unable to do their usual work and can build up in the blood and bone marrow so there is less room for healthy white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets. Treatment for J.M.M.L. consists of chemotherapy followed by a bone marrow transplant. This is the only treatment known to be successful and gives the best prognosis. Further reading on JMML; |
